Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security. Even if someone gets your password, they can't access your account without the second factor.
What Is 2FA?
2FA requires two things to log in:
Something you know: Your password
Something you have: Your phone (for a code)
This makes your account much more secure.
Setting Up 2FA
Authenticator App (Recommended)
Go to Settings > Security
Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Choose Authenticator App
Download an authenticator app if you don't have one:
- Google Authenticator
- Authy
- Microsoft Authenticator
Scan the QR code with your app
Enter the 6-digit code shown in your app
Save your backup codes in a safe place
Click Enable 2FA
SMS Text Message
Go to Settings > Security
Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Choose SMS
Enter your phone number
Enter the code we text you
Save your backup codes
Click Enable 2FA
Note: Authenticator apps are more secure than SMS.
Using 2FA to Log In
Enter your email and password as usual
You'll be asked for a verification code
Open your authenticator app (or check your texts)
Enter the 6-digit code
Click Verify
Backup Codes
When you enable 2FA, you'll receive backup codes. These are one-time codes you can use if you lose access to your phone.
Important: Save these codes somewhere safe! You might:
Print them and store in a secure place
Save them in a password manager
Store them in an encrypted file
Each code can only be used once.
