ClapDiet rates foods based on how well they fit different health conditions. Here's how it works.

What Are Health Ratings?

Each food receives a rating (1-5 stars) for various health conditions:

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent choice
  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good choice
  • ⭐⭐⭐ Neutral
  • ⭐⭐ Eat in moderation
  • ⭐ Limit or avoid
  • Ratings by Condition

    Diabetes Rating

    Based on:

  • Glycemic index/load
  • Sugar content
  • Fiber content
  • Overall carbohydrate impact
  • High ratings: Non-starchy vegetables, lean proteins, healthy fats Low ratings: Sugary foods, refined carbs, high-GI foods

    Heart Health Rating

    Based on:

  • Saturated fat
  • Sodium content
  • Fiber
  • Healthy fat ratio
  • High ratings: Fish, vegetables, whole grains, nuts Low ratings: Processed meats, fried foods, high-sodium items

    Hypertension Rating

    Based on:

  • Sodium content (primary)
  • Potassium content
  • DASH diet alignment
  • High ratings: Fresh fruits, vegetables, low-sodium foods Low ratings: Processed foods, high-sodium items, pickled foods

    Kidney Health Rating

    Based on:

  • Potassium content
  • Phosphorus content
  • Sodium content

    Based on:

  • Oxalate content
  • Calcium content

    Gout Rating

    Based on:

  • Purine content
  • Fructose content
  • Alcohol content
  • High ratings: Low-purine foods, dairy, most vegetables Low ratings: Organ meats, shellfish, beer
